these are like my exact thoughts on it like. just because the show’s main message is ‘be a good person’ it doesn’t automatically mean you are one.

claiming that That HS Callout was made with a genuine intention to inform people about hs’ issues is literally bullshit. chances are, most hs fans are already aware of these issues. however, being capable of critical thinking, they’re able to enjoy the comic and also not endorse the issues that it has at the same time.

besides, you can literally make anything sound horrible and irredeemable if you try hard enough. for example, mp100 has racism, transphobia, and redemption for an abusive parent figure. these things are bad and shouldn’t be defended, but these issues arent what the show is about. the same logic applies to homestuck whether you like it or not. it has its issues, just like every other piece of media out there. 

with that being said, hs is probably one of the most progressive pieces of popular media ive seen in terms of lgbt+ rep, and i know most hs fans feel the same way. im saying this as a lesbian of color: spreading around a post like that is called ‘performative allyship’; you dont actually care about any of the minorities you’re trying to ‘protect’ from hs. you just like drama.

thinking that your interests are somehow exempt from issues and above everything else doesn’t make you a good person. youre just an asshole
